Background info
good.bee Holding GmbH is a joint-venture established in 2008 by Erste Group (60%) and Erste Foundation (40%) and represents their financial inclusion tool, as main task the development of innovative solutions for breaking the financial inclusion barriers of small entrepreneurs from Central and Eastern Europe, by extending the appropriate and reliable financial services towards social enterprises and disadvantaged persons.

Erste Group has microfinance written into its genetic code as it was established in 1819 as the first micro-savings bank in the region for people considered too poor by the established banks of that time. Along the almost 200 years of existence, the Erste Group has constantly maintained a significant social component within its activities. The mere fact that the biggest shareholder of Erste Group was and still is the Erste Fundation proves the preservation of this identity. One of the Erste Foundation’s guiding landmarks is the belief that a prosperous community provides the basis for social, individual and economic development, belief which has been embraced by good.bee Credit as well.
